About me:

I was born in Hertfordshire, England (well, technically I was born in Camden, London, which is quite cool). I spent most of my childhood drawing and doodling and my Mum would often say that I was ‘away with the fairies’.

I did my foundation year at Manchester Metropolitan and the following year I was accepted on an illustration degree course at Anglia Polytechnic University. I was in my final year when an editor from Orchard Books came to scout our class and took my contact details.

This was a big year for me! I graduated and won the Macmillan Prize – a UK award for unpublished children’s picture book illustrators. Macmillan then decided to publish both of the books that I had entered.

I was contacted by Orchard Books, asking if I could create some sample character illustrations for a new series of fairy books that they would be publishing the following year. They liked what I sent them and the rest is history!

I reluctantly decided to retire from illustrating the Rainbow Magic books. I had drawn SO many fairies over the previous three years and needed a break, so the series continued, using copy artists to replicate my style.

My twin girls arrived!!! Being a mum proved to be unsurprisingly busy – so my dreams of going back to illustrating had to be put on hold indefinitely. Whilst I continued to doodle and work on some personal projects, I stopped illustrating professionally to concentrate on my home life.

My girls turned 16 and I decided it was time to see if there was still a place for my work out there. With support from an incredible old friend, I started posting on social media and contacted a few people who I thought might be interested in a free portrait. The response was huge, wonderful and so unexpected! I knew that the Rainbow Magic books were popular, but the love that has come my way through my Instagram and TikTok posts has been so overwhelming.

So now I’m back, creating my own fairies but with so many more ideas and plans still to come. Thank you so much for being here and for supporting my efforts to bring a little more magic into the world (sparkles). Watch this space!
